Abstract :
Based on an extensive analysis on the advantages and potential of multiple trellis coded modulation (MTCM), an efficient design method of a trellis coded modulation system for channels with any degree of fading is presented, during which the advances in the designs of coded modulation for both AWGN and fading channels (especially Rayleigh fading channel) are summarized. According to the systematic design procedures proposed, we construct some multiple trellis codes that can provide superior performance on channels with different degrees of fading to those produced by the conventional design
