Abstract :
Space division multiple access (SDMA) is a technique which can be used to increase the capacity of mobile communication systems by exploiting the spatial separation between users. Space time codes can provide good performance in wireless fading channels through spatial diversity. Here these two techniques are combined to produce a new architecture for CDMA/SDMA cellular systems using a space time block code. An analysis of this system is given, and the bit error rate performance for UMTS UTRA TDD, and TD-SCDMA is presented.
