Abstract :
Intelligent building energy management systems have made use of considerable computing power in large commercial buildings and with the advance of artificial intelligence techniques a small scale system is proposed for the smaller scale problem. The intelligent supervisory control proposed is able to adjust to the nonlinearities and peculiarities of the building and heating plant while being able to reject the myriad of disturbances to which such a system falls prey. The controller will seek to maximise the linguistically defined term ´user comfort´. The use of fuzzy logic as a tool to implement the control of systems with such peculiarities has been proved on many occasions.
