Abstract :
A modified differential evolution (DE) algorithm is proposed for the synthesis of uniformly excited unequally spaced linear arrays with sidelobe suppression. This algorithm adopts a new mutation operator that achieves a trade-off between evolution speed and population diversity. Both position-only and position-phase synthesis for different restrictions on the distance between adjacent elements are studied. Synthesis results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the classical DE in terms of convergence rate and the best values.
