Abstract
Conventional methods for improving output power and efficiency for RF power amplifiers would results the complex circuit and difficulty design. This problems will be solved when the defected ground structure (DGS) used in power amplifiers. The 50 Omega microstrip line with DGS used in output matching network can suppress the second and third harmonic components. In this paper the effects of DGS on the output power and efficiency of a class AB power amplifier would be simulated and realized at 2.4 GHz. The measured performance show that the DGS improve efficiency of power amplifier by 2-3%.
