Abstract :
In this paper, the performance of three methods for assigning cellular traffic to a hierarchical cellular structure is evaluated. The performance assessment was done with a complex two dimensional simulation tool which attempts to mimic as much as possible the conditions encountered in the city of Manhattan, NY. Blocking probability was computed for a simple speed sensitive strategy as well as two other methods which utilized overflow of traffic as well as take back capabilities for pedestrian traffic.
