This paper analyzed the character of technology innovation in Chery & Geely as independent-brand automakers, and pointed out the trap of technological innovation of self-brand automakers in China. The self-brand automakers should take into account the advance and economics in technologies innovation choice, proceeding endogenous innovation in the whole value chain, insisting on combination of progressive innovation and breakthrough innovation, and so on..
