  • Abstract
The success of smart grid deployment depends on consumers´ acceptance of smart grid products and services. This study tests a model based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) of consumers´ acceptance of smart grid technologies. The research model was designed to examine the process by which electrical power consumers accept a smart grid. The results suggest that it is important to increase the perceived usefulness and ease of use in order to enhance consumers´ smart grid participation. If the perception of smart grid´s usefulness is to increase, smart grid´s environmental and economic benefits must be emphasized. It is also important to eliminate unnecessary consumer anxiety concerning cyber security threats.
