Abstract
A new hybrid laboratory simulator of a power plant system for control design and test is proposed in this paper. The simulator employs a digital simulation with analogue I/Os for the mechanical part, and micromachine system for the electrical part. It represents the dynamics of the whole electric power plant system including a reheat boiler-turbine unit, a generator and a transformer supplying electric power to an infinite busbar. The hybrid laboratory simulator can be used for control system design and test, and plant dynamics studies. The interactive influence between mechanical and electrical components can be evaluated. A controller design example shows the effectiveness of the simulator.
