Abstract :
Far field pattern of the large antenna array is synthesized by combining the theory of active element pattern method and array factor in this paper. Patterns of 16 and 64 elements planar array antenna with triangular configuration are synthesized with the proposed method. The calculated results demonstrate that both of them agree well with the simulated results obtained from full wave solver HFSS in the main lobe and the first side lobe regions. However, discrepancy is observed in the other area. So there is a compromise between the efficiency and accuracy for this hybrid method, which means far field pattern of large antenna array can be quickly estimated by sacrificing an accepted error in the engineering.
