Abstract :
A closed exact form and its approximation of the characteristic impedance of a lossy coaxial line with a thick outer conductor are presented. The characteristic impedance of a coaxial line calculated theoretically using dimensions measured by air-gauging system are compared to the measurement results using the Gamma method for a 3.5 mm standard air line of 15 cm long.
