Abstract :
In a control system consists of heterogeneous fieldbus protocols, real-time data exchange among all devices needs interoperation of field buses. In this paper, Ethernet-based solutions for fieldbus interoperability is discussed. In order to evaluate whether real-time requirements can be met, the maximum communication delay between PROFIBUS and CAN on switched Ethernet is calculated.
