  • Abstract
This paper investigates the application of bandpass FSS radome with an enclosed antenna to reduce its backward RCS outside of its operating band. A planar array antenna covered with FSS radome is designed and constructed. In order to study the effects of a dielectric embedded FSS on an enclosed antenna pattern, we adopt the ray tracing technique to compute the near field pattern of the antenna-FSS configuration, from which the transmission coefficient and the far field patterns can be calculated. The results show that the backward RCS of antenna array with FSS radome has dramatically reduced than the common antenna array at out of operating band.
