Abstract :
This paper presents a work devoted to the impact study of the pollution severity on the energy level dissipated on high voltage insulator. The experimental tests were carried out on a plane model (500×500×5 mm3) simulating the standard insulator PSV 120 B. This one is largely used by the Algerian company of electricity and gas (SONELGAZ). The laboratory tests concern the measurement of the cumulative charge on the insulator model for various polluting solutions. These solutions are made up of distilled water, NaCl and kaolin. The pollution severity degree is obtained by varying the NaCl and kaolin concentrations in one liter of distilled water. The energy evaluation is based on the measured cumulative charge. The obtained results show that the dissipated energy on the insulator model is proportional to the severity degree of the pollution. However this energy decreases or is saturated for the extremely high severity degree.
