Abstract
With the imminent arrival of public ISDN services in Australia, Telecom Australia-PABX Unit has developed TeLinc, an ISDN signalling system for private networks, to allow flexible networking of PABXs using public ISDN resources and to support a wide range of supplementary services with feature transparency across private networks. TeLinc allows private networks in the ISDN to be realized economically taking full advantage of ISDN functionality and to evolve without the undue constraint of being tied to a single vendor irrespective of performance and cost criteria. The paper outlines the scope of the signalling system and the protocol structure for various scenarios. Individual layer protocols as well as supplementary services supported in the signalling system are also discussed
