Abstract :
Forest stand height is an important indicator of standing biomass for management purposes as well as for the assessment of carbon storage. In this paper we assess Intermap Star-3i X-band SAR interferometry products for forest height estimation. DEM data sets are initially assessed for accuracy, and are then used to estimate forest height. Height is underestimated by 22.65%. Regression analysis is used to predict height to within 12.5%. Reasons for errors are investigated through the use of a simple interferometric model.
