Abstract :
Today, we have enough bandwidth to make realtime video communication. The importance for video communication has been changed to its quality. However, as the Internet is a best effort network, the condition changes dynamically and the quality of communication is greatly influenced, even if enough bandwidth has been prepared. The authors have developed the SDTV quality MPEG2 over IP transfer system named "mpeg2ts". The mpeg2ts has a capability of recovering packet loss by using FEC. Our goal is to make it possible to deploy this system over the broadband Internet. In this paper, we discuss what prevents the high quality video transfer system from deploying on the broadband network and show the proposal to deal with. Then we implement the system, deploy it on the real broadband network and evaluate the effectiveness.
