Abstract :
We propose an original method for the quantification of the peristaltic movements of the intestine during an abdominal surgical operation. As an initial data we used videorecording carried during the operation. To determine the parameter of intestinal motility, on the first frame of the video series we put points (markers), which movement can be traced from frame to frame around the video. As a method of interframe motion estimation, the algorithm of tracking of a fragment of the image round each marker is used. A method for correcting errors caused by camera shake when shooting is offered. Testing method on clinical material has shown its high accuracy and stability.
