Abstract :
Manufacturing of electrical insulation with improved electrical features and meeting the requirements of the norms and standards in the field depends both on the electro-insulating material quality and on the technology applied. In case of capacitor-type electrical insulation of high-power generator terminals and bars, the insulation quality is negatively influenced by the formation of air-gaps between the insulation layers. The formation of air-gaps results in the accepted limits of delta tangent delta being exceeded and could ultimately result in failures due to poorly bonded insulation. To remove this deficiency, this paper presents a new technology based on the use of microwave energy which ensures a continuous fluidization of the resin impregnating the electro-insulating material. This new technology is the result of research by a team of specialists in the microwave and electrical insulation field
