Abstract
A new method of increasing space resolving power is presented. The method is applied to two-band multispectral image analysis. The method is based on the representation of an observed image as a complex envelope of a hypothetical pseudocoherent wave field. The analysis is based on virtual computer synthesis using a controlled procedure for the inversion of the wave equation in depth. From a practical point of view, the method provides in effect a virtual lens with variable focal depth. It gives the possibility for selectively increasing sensitivity and space resolving power of the analyzed space-borne image
