Abstract
The High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is used more in the radio operator interface of the access network of the UMTS. Its principle is to share a common channel (buffer) with high throughput between the users of the cell in order to improve the quality of service of multimedia traffic. In this paper, we propose and study a mechanism of access control to the channel of two types of packets, packets at real time (voice and/or video) and non real time packets (data). The mechanism of control consists in putting thresholds in the channel in order to well manage the access of the various packets by giving priority of access to the packets at real time. The NRT arrival is modeled by a BMAP process and the RT arrival by a Poisson process. We study analytically and numerically the various parameters of performance (loss probability, average delay of packets, average number of packets in the buffer) of this control.
