Abstract :
In this paper, the performance of a packet combining scheme is analyzed and simulated for a CDMA based wireless ATM network in a Rayleigh fading channel. The performance is evaluated in terms of cell loss ratio and maximum cell transfer delay. The data sequence is encoded with a RS (Reed-Solomon) code and a packet combining scheme is employed. In decoding of the RS code, BDD (bounded distance decoding) is used. In the CDMA radio access, perfect chip synchronization and perfect power control are assumed. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the packet combining scheme significantly improves the performance of wireless ATM networks
