Abstract :
Considering the specific characteristics of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), such as high mobility, variable density, and non-uniform distribution, it is a challenging task to find a stable and efficient routing path in VANETs. In addition, analytical models are rarely existed which can quantificationally evaluate routing protocols from an algorithmic perspective. In this paper, a novel analytical model was proposed for the evaluation of routing breakage in urban environment. Furthermore, a Direction Based AODV Routing Protocol (DBAP), which concerns vehicle´s moving direction as an assistant ingredient was presented to enhance the performance of AODV. The simulation results show the validity of the proposed model, as well as the improved performance of DBAP in link-breakage and drop ratio.
