Abstract :
This paper elaborates on designing a baseband processor for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) using an FPGA/DSP platform. The WiMAX architecture is first examined with a high level simulation of the complete system in Matlab/SIMULINK using floating point accuracy. The different sub-blocks of the baseband processor are then translated for hardware implementation where only fixed point arithmetic operations is used. Special care is taken at this stage to monitor the accuracy of the hardware implementation compared to the SIMULINK model.
