Abstract :
One of Hawaii´s most interesting coastal developments is the Hawaii Ocean Science and Technology (HOST) Park. It is located on the Leeward side of the Big Island of Hawaii about a mile south of the Keahole Airport. HOST Park adjoins the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii, and together the two State facilities comprise an 865-acre complex that is dedicated to ocean-related research and technology and the commercial production of aquaculture products. This paper is presented in two sections - the development of the project and the operations of HOST Park by the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA).
