Abstract
In this study, the effects of cracks on the electrical breakdown of line post insulators were investigated by comparing a new insulator, manufactured in 1996, with service-aged insulators which has been used in areas of severe contamination, heavy dust contamination and mild contamination. These insulators were tested to the ES and IEC specifications and especially analyzed using HRB tests, material characterization and SEM
