Abstract
Effective use of commercial CAD tools is necessary in the competing microwave radio market. In this paper a design method is proposed that makes use of scaleable distributed elements implemented in a commercial microwave CAD system. The method makes it easy to scale complete circuits in frequency and move them to other substrate materials with different thickness and ¿r. This minimises the design efforts moreover makes the design understanding intuitive. This paper describes the implementation of the method, and discusses the method applied to design and scaling of real circuits. The method is general and may be applied to both hybrid and MMIC circuits.
