Abstract :
In the application of a simplified adaptive antenna system in the mobile transmission of wideband digital signal that enables the transmission of MPEG-2 quality video, we have developed a sector switched antenna in which sector selection is based on the result of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. We show the configuration of our developed experimental antenna and the results of performance testing of DOA estimation in an anechoic chamber and outdoor environments. In the anechoic chamber, DOA estimation error was less than a few degrees and that the minimum resolution angle between two incident waves was about 20° at an S/N=20 dB using an experimental 4-element array. In outdoor environments, DOA tracking performance was good in a line-of-sight (LOS) environment
