Abstract :
Given the sequence of a protein, a biologist may wish to know whether it interacts with a given RNA sequence or not. Protein-RNA interactions play an important role in a number of fundamental cellular processes, such as RNA splicing, transport and translation, protein synthesis and certain RNA-mediated enzymatic processes. In this paper, novel feature extraction methods are proposed to predict protein-RNA interactions with a SVM classifier. The results indicate that the performance of the feature extraction method is superior to other approaches.
