Abstract
The authors examine some of the characteristics of major business networks today, and consider how improvements in network capabilities can address the needs of business network managers and their users. An example of a business network is presented, showing how a feature such as a uniform dialing plan can lead to more efficient use of network resources and more effective use of the business network user´s time. The role and impact of ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) technology on business communications is discussed. In particular, they consider how one component of ISDN-Primary Rate Access-can act as a bridge between public and private networks to provide effective communication for the 1990s
