Abstract :
A comprehensive assessment has been undertaken to determine the reliability of various methods of predicting tendon tension loss and concrete compression loss in partially prestressed beams. These methods are evaluated and compared with experimental values over a period of one year; the comparison included symmetrical arrangements of reinforcement and a range of prestress levels. In the light of the test results, it would be important to make a distinction between the prestress force of the tendon and the reduction of the concrete force which is equal to the loss of prestress plus the force in nontensioned steel. Thereby, prestress losses are strongly affected by the presence of nontensioned steel
