Abstract
A brief survey of the investigations on the localized optical modes (edge modes (EM) [1,2] and defect modes (DM) [1,3]) in chiral liquid crystals (CLC) and original results related to the analytic approach to the theory of the optical EM and DM and their applications in distributed feedback (DFB) lasing are presented.
