Abstract :
The conventional transmission probability control methods in a DS/CDMA (direct sequence code division multiple access)-based slotted-ALOHA system are simple yet unable to support fair transmissions between transmitting mobiles. This paper proposes a fair access algorithm for a packet data service in DS/CDMA-based S-ALOHA system in order to improve the fairness between mobiles while still maintaining a higher throughput. In the proposed method, the base station determines the packet transmission probability of a mobile station in the next slot and then broadcasts this probability to all mobile stations through a forward control channel. Simulation results showed that the proposed method can guarantee a good fairness among transmitting mobiles and provide a higher throughput in a heavy traffic environment
