Abstract :
Two generalized selection combining (GSC) schemes are considered for i.i.d Rayleigh multipath fading reception. Among all available paths at the receiver, the GSC schemes performs the selection operation based on the instantaneous SNR of each path. The selection criteria are based on a certain SNR threshold and certain percentage of the maximal SNR respectively. The selected paths are then combined according to the maximal ratio rule. The average SNR of each GSC scheme is compared against the maximal SNR obtained by the conventional MRC
