Abstract :
We investigated the expression of c-kit protein by immunohistochemistry in gametogenesis of locusts and compared their differences by biological statistics between Euchorthippus vittatus Zheng and Euchorthippus unicolor (Ikonn.). We set four representative phases in spermatogenesis and eight representative phases in oogenesis to detect the expression level of c-kit protein. The results revealed that in spermatogenesis, positive expression of the c-kit protein became stronger in spermatogonia, primary spermatocyte, secondary spermatocyte, mature sperms and especially at the end of spermary, but the positive granules were gradually thinner. In oogenesis, there are different expression levels of c-kit protein from the 1st to 6th stage but the positive granules gradually disappear with the following of vitellogenesis. The expressions of c-kit protein in gametogenesis were significant differences between two species of locusts. The data suggest that ckit protein might play a crucial role in proliferation and differentiation. The c-kit protein would regulate differently developmental speed in gametogenesis and maintain the physiological action of sperm, ovum and even fertilization and species isolation etc.
