Abstract :
Saving water resource is one important part of environmental regulation. While water availability has been decreasing all over the world, rainwater utilization has been suggested to promote water resource saving. Tianjin, China, faces the same problem of lack of freshwater resource. Rainwater utilization is one effective measure to solve this problem. In this paper, the characteristics of rainwater in Tianjin were introduced and the necessity and possibility of rainwater utilization were discussed. In addition, a novel catalyzed ozonation/granular activated carbon (GAC) rainwater runoff treatment process was adopted for efficient and safe use of rainwater.
