Abstract :
Vegetation cover estimated from satellite data and woody plant density derived from aerial photos were used to assess the effect of land use impacts with respect to climate in the semi-arid lands of Botswana. The results showed that there is a high risk of long-term land use impacts under current climatic conditions. The land use response pattern to climate change in the semi-arid lands of southern Africa can be modeled with the aid of remote sensing to determine future impacts on the landscape
