Abstract :
The concept of a tool for qualitative pattern analysis is described. A successful application of a fuzzy notion of similarity called analogy is presented. In contrast to other methods, a similarity estimation and a nonsimilarity estimation of images are considered in parallel. The method has been successfully applied in the process of industrial quality assurance in the domain of material tests based on the investigation of microscopic images of material cuts
