Abstract :
This paper considers multi-hop radio communication systems where terminals and base stations coexist. In these systems, a terminal is connected to a base station via a multi-hop connection if this terminal cannot directly communicate with this base station. This paper evaluates the ability of one-dimensional multi-hop radio communication systems to cover the service area by multi-hop connections. To evaluate this ability, this paper analyzes the probability that every terminal in a region between adjacent two base stations can communicate with at least a base station and the ratio of the mean number of terminals which are in the region and can communicate with at least a base station to the mean number of terminals in the region
