Abstract
The authors describe the characteristics of a low-emittance configuration and its implementation in the Stanford Positron Electron Accelerator Ring (SPEAR) at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (SSRL) to increase the photon beam brightness. The new lattice has an emittance of 129 pi nm-rad at 3 GeV compared to the present emittance of 510 pi nm-rad. The lattice design, the injection scheme, and the commissioning results are discussed.<>
