Abstract :
The first prototype 3-D intelligent image sensor has been designed, fabricated, and tested. It is a monolithic character recognition system including about 10K transistors and 3K diodes, which are implemented in a 3-D IC process with laser-crystallization technology. With this system, incomplete character inputs are recognized and complete character outputs are displayed. It features asynchronous parallel data processing and parallel access to memory.<>
