Abstract :
One common feature shared by many natural, artificial and social networks is the presence of hierarchical topology. In this paper we propose a method to reveal the hierarchical organization inherent in a network by simultaneously detecting communities across a series of multiscale networks. It has been tested on both synthetic and real networks. Results show that by visualizing the formation of community structures at different scales at the same time, a better understanding of hierarchical organization of a network and inter-community relationship can be obtained.
