Abstract
Wireless solutions are necessary for mobility, offer competitive advantages for the local loop (transmission path between the subscriber and the network), and will be used for the emerging broadband services. Therefore, the conventional frequency spectrum progressively saturates, and higher microwave and millimeterwave products are required. R&D activity is necessary to support this growing field, to develop cheaper and more attractive products, compatible with increasing environmental requirements, and to make a better use of the frequency spectrum.
