Abstract
The authors use fuzzy logic to formulate a general strategy for constructing a range test, a common form of built-in-test employed by real-time embedded systems. The logic of an actual test used in industry was redesigned using the strategy. The resulting test is shown to be superior to the original, both theoretically and experimentally
