Abstract :
Cognition and its role in improving the capability of sensing systems is an area of research fast gaining momentum. In this paper we examine aspects of human echolocation and hence ingredients of cognition. We demonstrate that much inspiration for cognitive sensing is taken directly from humans to provide a basis for the development of artificial forms of cognition for radar and sonar sensing systems.
