Abstract
The authors discuss a multidimensional target tracking problem in which no dynamic mathematical model is explicitly required. A fuzzy filter with Gaussian membership functions, a minimum fuzzy `and´ operation, and the centroid defuzzification technique is developed for multidimensional target tracking. The basic problems involved here are the fuzzy partitions of the universe of discourse of the variables, the derivation of the fuzzy if-then rules, and defuzzification. Each of the problems is discussed. Empirical results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the fuzzy filter for multidimensional target tracking
