Abstract :
The author attempts an extension of relational databases in order to represent fuzzy data with a new data type that introduces termed nuanced information and to give a new definition of the relational division operator to take into account the nuance information. The new operator is called the nuanced relational division. It is shown that this new operator resolves the problem of the identification of an observed object among a set of known objects of the databases to introduce weights on attributes for expressing the pertinence in known objects and the trust in the observed object. This analysis is based on probability theory and fuzzy set theory
