Abstract
In [1] a Fresnel approximation for a Physical Optics (PO) model was proposed to calculate the reflected field in propagation calculations. The purpose of these formulas is to overcome the two main disadvantages of the classical Geometrical Optics (GO) formulas. The GO formulas can not calculate the field in a direction different from the specular direction and they suppose always the presence of an infinite reflecting surface. The new Physical Optics formulas overcome these disadvantages and are computationally efficient at the same time. Measurements performed in the anechoic chamber of ESAT/TELEMIC to validate these new formulas, are described in this paper. Both the experimental procedure and the results are discussed.
