Abstract
We developed a spatial image classifier which incorporates contextual information to classify each pixel in the raw images. The procedure incorporates contextual information by using the average of the pixels from a peer group of each pixel and classifying this pixel into one of several predefined classes based on the average. The spatial classifier strives to capture the spatial relationships encoded in the aerial photograph. The Fisher discriminant was used to select the peer group, that means the determination of the window size and number of pixels for each pixel being classified in this spatial classifier. Experimental results are provided.
