Abstract :
Since the CCITT published in 1984 a set of Recommendations on MHSs-X.400(84), the research and development of MHSs have been extensively deployed. Some utility systems which support the X.400 standard have been widely used. But in these systems, the UA and MTA reside in the same system where P2 and P1 are included, but not P3 and P7. The implementation of P3 and P7 is still at the research stage. This paper gives a method of implementing P3, a protocol defined in the CCITT X.400(84) standard and improved in the X.400(88) standard, which is used to enable the MTS-user (UA or MS) to access the MTS Abstract Service remotely. Based on the ISODE7.0 and PP6.0, we have implemented P3 according to the CCITT X.400(88) in UNIX systems.<>
